I have awaited the followup to How to Succeed in Evil by +Patrick McLean called Hostile Takeover for a bit now. So I was surprised and very happy to see Consultation with a Vampire turn up. As far as I can tell it’s set somewhere between a little after the case with Steven Grapewigget/Brainatar and the events of HtSiE.
First thing that comes into mind when I was reading it, It’s freaking awsome getting into the head of Topper.
I think Edwin is awsome and truth be told I was a little nervous if I actually would enjoy shifting into the mind of Topper as is going to happen with Hostile Takeover. Concern is set aside, I love it:D he’s agressive, full of steam when he needs to be and his, I do what I want to do when I want it attitude, is cool:)
Also the rendering of the Vampires was fantastic and seemed “original” if such a thing can be said about a fictive creature, and they seemed real. I have become sick and tired of the Vampire types in things like Twilight and Vampire Diaries.
In one of my favorite book series The Dresden Files there’s alot of Vampire types. And while the Dracula kind exist in the universe it’s seldom seen in the books. So it was nice going back to the original blood sucking Dracula type in this one:)
How to Succeed in Evil: Consultation with a Vampire is fantastic you should get it:) (just follow the link under Source) it can be read I think before How To Succeed in Evil but it’s not needed to. You should pick this one up even if you haven’t read the original/”First”, and then you should go get How to Succeed in Evil at once:)! Can’t wait for Hostile Takeover and to get back into the head of Topper Haggleblat.:D
