MoDaCo Android 2.2 Costum Desire Rom

Hi again guys:)

Yes i know, I´ve just updated my phone with Cyanogen mod.
But then I went, hey there was a rumor about being able to record video in 720p HD video with the new Android 2.2 where has that gone huh?
After a bit of Google searching I discovered that recording video in HD was a specific feature of HTC´s Desire rom.
I ofc went I gotta have that, but I so wanted to keep it to stock Android as you know.
Here is my solution to this and what I did next.
I went over to MoDaCo Forums
I am ofc always under the Android section of the site that much is obvious:)
These are the guys responsible for all that I have achieved with my HTC Desire.
I am very grateful to them:)
If you head over here
You got a couple of options.
1. You can download the default rom free of charge, so it looks like a HTC rom, with Sense and all that stuff.
2. You can do like me, bake a costum rom tailored to what you need.

Now seen as all unbranded HTC Desires have gotten a Froyo/Android 2.2 update this dosen´t make that much sense if you already have HTC´s official update, if you are locked to a carrier however it can be a good while before they update, in which case I will suggest you flash a costum rom.
If you´ve followed my previous post on rooting, then you can´t accept an update from HTC without serious consequence and thus you either have to revert to “unrooted” (modaco.com can help you with that)
Or you might as well update to Android Froyo by flashing an Android 2.2 based rom.

Back to your two options.
Take a default rom for free that includes Sense and pretty much looks like the default HTC Desire, other than it´s gotten a few new features from the 2.2 update and doubled it´s speed according to reviews.
Or support a fantastic forum with a seriously hardworking administrator who is responsible for all these goodies I am reporting to you guys about in regards to Android and the HTC Desire.
I will strongly encourage you to do like I´ve done buy a subscription to MoDaCo.com
I´ve bought Ad-Free which took care of some ads on the site and removed them, and granted me access to “Kitchen” which is awsome:D
And the “Kitchen” feature is what I´ve used.
On the MoDaCo post I´ve provided you a link to, if you´ve bought the Ad-Free subscription you now have the option to use the “Kitchen” to tailor your rom exactly like you want it.
This is such a cool feature and you can get exactly what you want and nothing more to take up space on your phone.
Now if you want it like me, to look like stock Android like on the Google Nexus One, you de-select Sense / Rosie.
You also have to de-select Lock Screen.
You might also want to deselect HTC IME to get rid of HTC keyboard and replace it with default Android keyboard, by just ticking the option called keyboard.
Now hit bake, download your rom, put it on your SD card on the phone, and just follow the earlier guide on Flashing a rom, now you just don´t need to flash a radio onto it, if you´ve done this already and you just replace the rom in the guide with the one you just baked and downloaded.
I´d recommend keeping your phone in the charger while you flash.
Once this is done you are all set with MoDaCo´s costum Android 2.2 rom, enjoy:)
I certainly have so far:)

After reading a few of your articles I seriously found this specific one to generally be really good. I’ve a blogging site as well and would love to repost a few snips of your articles on my blog website. Would it be okay if I do this as long I reference your blog post or create a inbound link towards the post I took the snip from? If not I am aware of and could not do it without having your authorization . I have book marked the article to twitter and bebo accounts for reference. Regardless thank you either way!

That will be alright as long as you link back to my post as a form of source and give “credit” to me in that way, as I do myself if I use content from the internet I always link to what I want to tell about if it originates from a specific source. I would like it too, without dictating what you should write, that you credit MoDaCo.com for this, with linking it is after all their amazing work that is the reason for most of my Android related posts as of late.
    Thanks:)
